Category Definition and Qualification

To compete and thrive in the new digital economy, progressive CIOs across Qatar are increasingly transforming their customer engagements, business operations, and operating models by leveraging digital technologies. They are being supported unequivocally by line-of-business leaders in delivering business transformation. Through the IDC Excellence Awards 2021, IDC intends to honor those organizations and IT leaders who have conceptualized and successfully delivered digital transformation initiatives that brought about tangible results.

This year, IDC will recognize the excellence of IT and business leaders from Qatar across the following categories:

Excellence in Digital Innovation
Open to IT leaders that have:
  • Leveraged digital technologies to drive innovation across the enterprise.
  • Delivered innovative initiatives for multidimensional customer engagements that attracted new customers and improved loyalty.
  • Successfully implemented digital innovations to greatly enhance the efficiency of business functions.
  • Implemented innovative use cases in the supply chain to significantly improve efficiency and business agility.
CISO (Chief Information Security Officer) of the Year
Open to IT leaders that have:

  • Significantly improved the security posture, resilience, and regulatory compliance of the organization.
  • Successfully delivered major initiatives that helped transform and position security as an enabler for digital transformation.
CIO (Chief Information Officer) of the Year
Open to IT leaders who have:

  • Spearheaded the leadership of digital transformation in alignment with senior executives and lines of business.
  • Successfully delivered major initiatives that helped transform and position security as an enabler for digital transformation.
Women in Technology and Business
Open to female business and IT leaders who have:

  • Positively impacted the business outcomes, work cultures, and levels of innovation required for greater financial performance.
  • Successfully reduced the impact of a lack of gender diversity in IT organizations and underscored the need to expand mentoring programs that develop female leaders.
Nomination Criteria:

To be eligible for the IDC Excellence Awards 2021, nominees must fulfil the following criteria:
  • They must have held the position of CIO or business leader within a company based in Qatar for at least 24 months.
  • They must have led, within the last 24 months, the implementation of initiatives, which should be thoroughly described in the nomination form.
  • They must have demonstrated outstanding skills and efforts in the following fields: innovation, change management, IT governance, business enablement, and cost efficiency.

Judging Process:

At IDC, we pride ourselves on enforcing the very highest levels of transparency and impartiality. As such, each nomination will be reviewed and validated using a multi-tiered process.

The evaluation of nominations and selection of finalists will be independently undertaken by a multidisciplinary team comprising senior regional and international IDC analysts. All nominations will be treated with the strictest confidence.

Upon submission of a nomination, IDC analysts will perform an initial assessment, during which they may call nominees to validate and verify details.
The top 10 finalists in each category will be unveiled during a live 'Awards Ceremony' to be hosted on a virtual platform. The top three finalists in each category will be required to present their achievements/nominations to the IDC jury. Each finalist will be allocated a total of 15 minutes – 7-8 minutes for a PowerPoint presentation and 7-8 minutes for Q&As.

In the event of any dispute regarding the rules, conduct, results, and all other matters relating to the IDC Excellence Awards 2021, the decision of the judges shall be final, and no further correspondence or discussion shall be entered into.

All nominations must contain fact-based information and should not include marketing messages or branding information. All questions from the nomination form need to be answered. 

IDC encourages short, sharp answers that provide clear insights into the results achieved by the selected initiative/project/nominee. 

The nomination form must be submitted prior to July 31, 2021.
